Prof. Santos appointed Head of Division and Director of Doctoral Programme (Faculty of Pharmacy)

Professor Hélder A. Santos has been appointed Head of the Division of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology (Faculty of Pharmacy), and Director of the Doctoral Programme in Drug Research (DPDR; University of Helsinki), for a four-year term, effective January 1, 2018.

The appointment (2018-2021) was done by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Helsinki.

The Division of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology is one of the three Divisions at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Helsinki. The Division has 4 main Research units, with more than 70 scientists, including, 8 professors, 3 University Researchers, 5 University Lectures, 6 technical staff, 13 post-doctoral researchers and 38 PhD students. The division is responsible for research and teaching on pharmaceutical analytics, pharmaceutical microsciences and nanosciences, formulations and pharmaceutical chemistry at our University.

The Doctoral Programme in Drug Research (DPDR) aims is to train and educate researchers in pharmaceutical sciences and related fields. The DPDR is a multidisciplinary doctoral programme and the research in DPDR covers the life cycle of the medicines and toxicology. More specifically, groups in DPDR study diverse areas in drug research, such as drug design and synthesis, bioactivity screening, pharmaceutical microbiology, drug formulation, pharmaceutical nanotechnology, industrial manufacturing, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, analytics, drug interactions, pharmacogenetics, pharmacology and clinical pharmacology, clinical drug research, pharmacoepidemiology, clinical pharmacy, pharmacoeconomics, toxicology and clinical toxicology.
