Master's thesis on porosity distribution in clay-rich fault core

Ville Nenonen is working on his Master's thesis in our group in collaboration with the Department of Geosciences and Geography.

The topic of Ville's thesis is Porosity distribution in heterogeneous clay-rich fault core by image processing of C-14-PMMA autoradiographs and scanning electron microscopy. The topic of Ville's thesis is Porosity distribution in heterogeneous clay-rich fault core by image processing of C-14-PMMA autoradiographs and scanning electron microscopy.

Fault zones are related to numerous phenomena such as the opening and closing of ocean basins and the rise and fall of mountain ranges. Fault zones not only influence the mechanical properties and seismological behaviour of the Earth’s crust but also the migration of elements and trapping of sub-surface fluids.Fault zones are related to numerous phenomena such as the opening and closing of ocean basins and the rise and fall of mountain ranges.
