Professor Sari Lindblom appointed vice-rector of the University of Helsinki

Lindblom will serve as part-time (50%) vice-rector from 1 February 2017 and will assume the position full time on 1 September when Vice-Rector Anna Mauranen retires. Lindblom’s term ends on 31 July 2018.

Lindblom currently serves as director of the Centre for University Teaching and Learning (HYPE), professor of higher education, and vice-dean for the Faculty of Educational Sciences. She began working at the University of Helsinki as a doctoral student and researcher in 1987, and has previously served as vice-director for research at the Institute of Behavioural Sciences and director of the Master's Programme in Educational Sciences.

As vice-rector, one of Lindblom’s key duties will be to support the education reform underway at the University, which will organise all degree education into degree programmes. The new degree programmes are set to launch in autumn 2017. Another significant focus of Lindblom’s future position arising from the University's strategy is the promotion of the digitalisation of teaching and learning.
