JP attends ASLO summer meeting in Victoria, Canada

ABRU PhD student JP Myllykangas attended the annual summer meeting of the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography.

The meeting was held in the city of Victoria, located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. JP gave an oral presentation entitled "Methane dynamics in a eutrophied boreal estuary" about his PhD research in coastal areas of the Baltic Sea. JP's talk featured in one of several sessions on the topic of methane. This potent greenhouse gas in produced in aquatic systems when organic matter degrades in the absence of oxygen. JP's PhD research focuses on understanding the microbial processes controlling methane cycling in coastal sediments.
