Welcome to our new team members!

We are thrilled to announce that we have hired two postdoctoral researchers to the GramAdapt project. We received altogether 46 applications through our open call between March 25 and May 13. Out of these six candidates were selected on the shortlist, three for each position, the sociolinguist and the historical linguist. After the interviews the PI of the project, Kaius Sinnemäki, invited Ms. Eri Kashima to the position Postdoctoral researcher in sociolinguistics and Mr. Ricardo Napoleão de Souza to the position Postdoctoral researcher in historical linguistics. We thank all applicants for their interest. Special thanks to Dr. Francesca Di Garbo and Dr. Max Wahlström for assistance in co-reviewing the applications.

Mr. Napoleão de Souza’s background is in historical and contact linguistics, laboratory phonology and psychology. He received his PhD at the University of New Mexico under Professor Caroline L. Smith. He already arrived at Helsinki in early September and has started working on the project. Ms. Kashima has background in field sociolinguistics in New Guinea. She has studied under Professor Nick Evans at the Australian National University, where she is about to receive her PhD. Eri will start her work in January 2020, at the same time with Francesca Di Garbo who was recruited to the project already earlier.
