NEW SEMINAR SERIES in Intellectual History (5 June)

Ritva Palmén, Comparing oneself to others in Thomas Aquinas's moral philosophy

The Helsinki Centre for Intellectual History is establishing a regular intellectual history seminar where members present their work-in-progress to the Helsinki academic community of intellectual historians.

The first meeting of this seminar will be on Tuesday 5 June at 4pm at the Tutkijakollegium (Fabianinkatu 24) in the Common Room on the 3rd floor.

Ritva Palmén has kindly agreed to present a paper for this first session, entitled “Comparing oneself to others in Thomas Aquinas's moral philosophy”. Her paper will follow shortly.

The idea in general for the seminar would be to pre-circulate papers that are around (short) article-length, so the focus can be on discussion rather than presentation. Papers will be circulated only among members of the HCIH. We suggest the rotation of chairs for the seminar organisation. Volunteers for organizing the seminar are kindly asked to contact us.

Following the meeting of 5 June, there will be some refreshments and the possibility to informally discuss new ideas and initiatives.

We are looking forward to seeing many of you on this occasion and also look forward to hearing from you which work-in-progress that you would like to present at our new seminar!

We also hope to receive more news from you about events, publications, jobs, etcetera. We are happy to put information about them online and on social media.
