University of Helsinki excels in data science

The University of Helsinki gets closer to being in the top 50 universities in the world. According to a new ranking, it also excels in computer science, a subject that constitutes a significant part of data science.

In the 2017 subject ranking of universities by Times Higher Education, published yesterday, University of Helsinki was ranked high in Computer Science: #69 globally, #25 in Europe, and #1 in the Nordic countries.

Computer science and statistics together constitute the core of the data science curriculum in University of Helsinki, and this ranking is an indication of the strong background of the data science programme. Times Higher Education does not provide subject rankings for statistics.

The University of Helsinki aims to break into the top 50 universities globally. Times Higher Education currently ranks it at #91, while the recent Shanghai ranking placed it already at #56 world-wide.
