Coronavirus infections among students of the Faculty of Medicine

A number of coronavirus infections have been diagnosed among first-year students of medicine and dentistry at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki. Teaching for the first-year students of medicine and dentistry will be transitioned entirely online until 16 September.

To prevent the spread of coronavirus infections, the Epidemiologic operations unit of the City of Helsinki, in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine and the Epidemiological Unit of the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa, has decided to recommend that all first-year students of the Faculty be transitioned to remote instruction for two weeks, from 2 to 16 September 2020.

All individuals identified as having been in close contact with those infected will be contacted by the city’s Epidemiologic operations unit or, in the case of residents of other municipalities, by the unit responsible for infectious diseases in their place of residence.
