Call for HiLIFE Director has opened
HiLIFE Helsinki Institute of Life Science, a recently established research institute within University of Helsinki, is looking for a Director.

HiLIFE draws together areas of existing research excellence in life sciences across the University of Helsinki, further enhancing high quality research, and integrating life science strengths across the University’s campuses.

HiLIFE is currently looking for a Director to lead the Institute strongly through the early and crucial stages of its life, and provide strong, dynamic, innovative and clear leadership to the component units.

"HiLIFE is a major strategic investment of the University of Helsinki and part of its profiling action funded by the Academy of Finland. We are looking for a director capable to foster high-profile basic research as well as to boost the societal impact and innovations within life science", says Vice-rector Keijo Hämäläinen, the chairman of the HiLIFE board.

HiLIFE forms an international environment for researchers, and facilitates national and international partnerships in areas of research, infrastructures, and innovations. HiLIFE operates primarily on the Viikki Bioscience Campus and Academic Medical Center Helsinki in Meilahti.

Alongside having overall responsibility of HiLIFE’s operations, the Director will place emphasis on maximizing the collaborative efforts between these units, encouraging interdisciplinary research and teaching, and further strengthening the University’s international links in life science.

The key within this will be to work closely with existing leaders within life science at the University of Helsinki, identifying areas of existing strength and working across all areas of activity in life science at the University.
