The HEALTHGRAIN Forum is an association founded as the follow-up organisation of the EU 6th Framework Programme Integrated Project HEALTHGRAIN – “Exploiting Bioactivity of European Cereal Grains for Improved Nutrition and Health Benefits”.
HEALTHGRAIN Forum (HGF) has been founded as an association under Finnish law at the constitutive meeting held in Lund (Sweden), 6 May 2010.
- HGF, based in Europe and with links worldwide, is an active network of universities, institutes and industries interested in grain and grain based products. University of Helsinki, Department of Food and Environmental Sciences (UH-DFES), is one of the member organisations of HGF.
- The vision of HGF is that whole grain and high fibre grain-based foods assist consumers in health maintenance worldwide, help reduce health care costs and provide added value for companies in the production chain from farm to fork.
- HGF is formulating priorities for research communications activities, with the overall aim of increasing consumers’ intake of protective components in whole grains.
