University Museum to be revamped

The Helsinki University Museum is currently closed due to the renovation of the University of Helsinki Main Building. We will open a new permanent exhibition as well as a temporary exhibition in new premises in the University’s Main Building towards the end of 2023.

The previous permanent exhibition, The Power of Thought, which showcased the history of the University of Helsinki and significant scholarly breakthroughs, was open from 2015 to 2020. It closed in early 2021 due to restrictions associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Helsinki University Museum also includes the Helsinki Observatory and the University of Helsinki Art Room, which will continue to operate and engage in outreach work within the Covid-19 restrictions. The University Museum’s collection services are currently closed due to the relocation of collections.
