This page contains the University of Helsinki's courses and study modules that support the building of innovation expertise, especially in the forestry, bioeconomy, food and natural resources sectors. The studies are suitable for degree students, researchers and anyone interested in innovation and impact. Some of the studies can also be found on the Open University.
Joint entrepreneurship and innovation studies
EIS-001 Introduction to Innovation and Entrepreneurship (2 cr)

A open online course (MOOC) that covers the basics of innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as startup thinking.

EIS-002: From Idea to Innovation – The Product Development Journey (2 cr)

A open online course (MOOC) open to a wide audience. As the name suggests, it focuses on refining ideas, the basic stages of product development, and building prototypes.

EIS-003 Basics of Entrepreneurship – How to Start and Run a Company (2 cr)

The course (MOOC) teaches, among other things, how to start a business in Finland, financial management, team building and customer acquisition.

EIS-004 IP 360°: Exploring the Full Sphere of Intellectual Property (2 cr)

This online course (MOOC) introduces the basics of intellectual property (IP) and its importance in the modern economy.

EIS-005 Business Model Canvas - Design your Company (2 cr)

A practical online course (MOOC) for modeling your own business idea using the popular Business Model Canvas tool.

The University of Helsinki's EIS (Entrepreneurship and Innovation Studies) study module provides basic knowledge about entrepreneurship, innovation and intellectual property rights. The courses are usually worth 2 credits and are generally graded on a pass-fail scale. The courses are conducted online.

ENT-300 Innovation Management and Entrepreneurial Thinking consists of one mandatory course ENT-301 Innovation, Sustainability and Society (5 credits) and 10 credits of elective courses.

Students can choose elective courses according to their own interests or degree. It is the student's responsibility to check the prerequisites for the elective courses and ensure that they are eligible to participate. The module may include one (1) MOOC from the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Module (EIS).
