Una Europa is a network of European universities established in 2018 to strengthen the European university landscape, and the University of Helsinki has been a member since 2019. Una Europa aims to offer new opportunities for study, mobility, and academic collaboration to staff and students of the member universities.
Launching in November 2026, the Una.Via project will strengthen sustainable international cooperation among the universities. The project builds on the successes of previous pilot projects and focuses on practical actions. Its key objectives include establishing new Interdisciplinary Hubs to support teaching and research collaboration, developing training academy to advance the skills of staff and students, and strengthening the role of students as co-creators.
The University of Helsinki plays a key role in the Una.Via project, taking the lead responsibility for creating new collaborative structures. UH’s key tasks include developing the Interdisciplinary Hubs, coordinating their supporting specialist groups, and launching a new funding instrument for new research and education initiatives.
Additionally, the University of Helsinki will, together with its partners, develop new formats for mobility and enhance the interoperability of university systems. The University will also host the Una Europa General Assembly in Helsinki in 2028, which brings together actors from across the alliance.

Una Europa's previous Erasmus+ funding periods were from 2019–2022 and 2022–2026. The two-year Una.Via project will ensure both continuity and renewed momentum as the alliance looks towards longer-term alliance funding under the European Commission’s next Multiannual Financial Framework in 2028.
