Workshop chairs: Emilia Brusila & Ilo Söderström
Time: 21.5.2026 at 10.15–11.45
Place: University of Helsinki Main building (Fabianinkatu 33), room U3029
The working group will discuss queer research writing in academic fields where queer perspectives are marginalized, such as applied social sciences, education, and natural sciences. How can research writing make space for queer perspectives in the field, and what kind of power and challenges are associated with writing and publishing in this context? How can queer research writing on the margins of the field act as resistance? How is it possible to queer a field of science by writing differently, or is it? The working group accepts papers in English and Finnish.
Please note, that maximum length for abstract is 200 words + a short bio. Send your abstract before March 10, to
