Groups

We have five active groups in Helsinki Urological Cancer Centre: prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, testicular cancer and penile cancer research group.
Prostate Cancer Research Group

Prostate cancer research group is the core of the Helsinki Prostate Cancer Research Center (PCRC). The group is co-led by professor Antti Rannikko (clinical site) and associate professor Tuomas Mirtti (pathology and preclinical site)

Helsinki Prostate Cancer Research Center is the network of prostate cancer related work done at HUS Helsinki University Hospital and Helsinki University. The main contributors to PCRC are the clinical sites HUS Department of Urology and HUS Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC), diagnostic sites HUS Clinical imaging, isotope imaging and department of pathology and as a preclinical site the FIMM research group led by professor Olli Kallioniemi.
 

Kidney Cancer Research Group

Kidney cancer research group is an active and growing group of researchers led by urologist Petrus Järvinen.

The group has several retrospective and prospective studies and trials ongoing and on the pipeline.

It actively collaborates with local, national and international experts in clinical, translational and preclinical collaborative projects.

Bladder Cancer Research Group

Bladder cancer group is co-led by urologist, PhD, Jukka Sairanen (invasive bladder cancer) and urologist, PhD, Riikka Järvinen (superficial bladder cancer).

The group has several retrospective and prospective studies and trials ongoing and on the pipeline. It actively collaborates with local, national and international experts in clinical, translational and preclinical collaborative projects.

Testicular Cancer Research Group

Testicular cancer research group is co-led by urologist, PhD, Hanna Vasarainen and associate professor Otto Hemminki.

Penile Cancer Research Group

Penile cancer research group is co-led by urologist, PhD, Hanna Vasarainen and urologist, PhD, Tuomas Jalanko.
