Terkko Health X calls for applications to its 4th batch

, in collaboration with its partners at the and , is calling on all Helsinki Metropolitan Area healthcare innovators to apply with their burgeoning ideas to the latest edition of the venerable health & life-sciences pre-incubator programme, Terkko Health X. Held from September 24th to November 4th, it offers those taking part the opportunity to start creating impactful research-based solutions to real health problems.

The intense, free-of-charge two month programme consists of 12 expert-led workshops where participants will learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship from the standpoint of the health industry while taking their solutions from the theoretical to the practical. As innovations in this field require significantly more time in development before launch than Terkko Health X can offer, the new Terkko Health X alumni will be invited to continue their entrepreneurial journey by applying to the  after finishing with Terkko Health X.

With its first batch in 2019, Terkko Health X has seen many of its alumni take their ideas and grow them into successful businesses. Of the 26 teams that have gone through the programme, 70% are still active and operational, and a number have attracted significant investment from top VC's.

Some notable successes includes , which offers Online Laboratory Environment Simulators helping scientists to design experiments and predict failure, and whose Organ-On-Chips solutions help pharmaceutical drug research and development by mimicking various human and animal tissues for testing. Both teams are from the programme's 2020 and are batch currently actively taking part in the last step of our health pipeline, Health Incubator Helsinki.

With the call for the programme having already opened on August 15th, Project Lead Liina Laukkanen, a Helsinki University graduate in Translational Medicine in Neuroscience and Psychobiology, has been reviewing the first group of applications for this year's edition of the programme with great interest and is eagerly looking forward to reviewing more applications. Laukkanen is also very pleased with the group of experts that have committed to supporting the programme, and is confident that the broad range of industry know-how they bring is bound to help this year's group of participants reach their full potential.

Applications are currently open, and teams of at least 2 with an early-stage solution idea are invited to apply by September 11th. Applications must include a short presentation of the idea and the problem it addresses, and applicants need not be affiliated with the University of Helsinki to participate.
