Participants of the Renmin University International Summer School can apply for the Hanban scholarship or tuition waiver. Confucius Institute scholarships are granted to outstanding Confucius Institute students worldwide for studies in China. Confucius China Studies Scholarships Program Ph.D. Fellowships are currently the most valuable fellowship programs that are available to international students in China. The majority of financial support is provided via the support of specific research and other projects on designated academic areas of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Confucius Institute also organize visit China programs both for school principals and educators and students.
Confucius Institute Scholarships are granted for studies in China. There are several scholarship categories you may apply. The scholarship will cover, tuition, accommodation fees on campus, monthly allowance, and comprehensive insurance for foreign students.
I. Category & Eligibility
The scholarship is only open to applicants who have a non-Chinese citizenship and who are between 16 and 35 years old (Applicants who are currently working in a Chinese language teaching position shall not exceed the age of 45).
1. Scholarship for Master’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) Students (2 Academic Years)
a) Applicant should have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
b) Full scholarship requirements minimum score of 210 on HSK Test (Level 5), and intermediate level in HSKK Test; Partial scholarship requirements minimum score of 180 on HSK Test (Level 5), and intermediate level in HSKK Test.
c) Applicant who is able to provide the employment agreement or certification upon finishing the study from designated working institutions is preferred
2. Scholarship for Bachelor´s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) Students (4 Academic Years)
a) Full scholarship requirements minimum score of 210 on HSK Test (Level 4), and intermediate level in HSKK Test; Partial scholarship requirements minimum score of 180 on HSK Test (Level 4), and intermediate level in HSKK Test.
b) Applicant who is registered student at a Confucius Institute/ classroom is preferred
3. Scholarship for One-Academic-Year Study Students (11 Months)
a) Application is open to overseas Chinese language teachers and Chinese language related major students
b) A minimum score of 270 in HSK Test (Level 3) and a HSKK Test Score Report
c) This scholarship will prepare students to take the HSK Test (Level 5) and pass with a minimum score of 180.Upon finishing the One-Academic-Year, students who pass the HSK Test (Level 5) are eligible to apply for a Master’s Degree in Teaching Chinese Scholarship
d) Students already studying in China from January 1, 2017 are not eligible for this Scholarship
a) Application is open to students of Chinese translation or Chinese studies
b) Advanced courses in Chinese literature, history and philosophy
c) A minimum score of 180 in HSK Test (Level 4) and intermediate level in HSKK Test
4. Scholarship for One-Semester Study Students (5 Months)
Applicants should have no prior experience of studying in China
a) Application is open to Confucius Institute (Classroom) students, overseas Chinese language teachers, and Chinese language related major students
b) A minimum score of 210 in HSK Test (Level 3) and a HSKK Test Score Report
a) For persons who wish to promote Chinese culture and have related professional background
b) Courses in Chinese Medicine and Taiji
c) A HSK Test Score Report
a) Courses in Chinese literature, history and philosophy for students and scholars of Chinese promotion
b) A minimum score of 210 in HSK Test (Level 3) and a internediate level HSKK Test
5. Scholarship for Four Week Study Students (July or December)
A HSK Test Score Report required and no prior experience of studying in China.

5.2 Chinese medicine and taiji classes for Confucius Institute students and teachers
5.3 Chinese language and homestay for CI student groups
Confucius Institute will act as a recommending institution. After you submit your online-application, please notify Confucius Institute by email or by calling about your application so that Confucius Institute can timely examine the qualification and application materials and submit the application to Hanban. Host institutes in China will review the applications and submit the proposed list of qualified candidates to Hanban. Hanban will publish list of successfull applicants on the Scholarship website. Renmin University of China (RUC) is a comprehensive research oriented university with its strength in social sciences and humanity. In 2022 International Summer School of Renmin University (ISS) will be held online from July 11 to July 29. ISS provides opportunities for young scholars worldwide to work together for new experience, knowledge and insights. The summer school offers courses in Chinese language and other subjects. Most of the courses are taught in English.
The International Summer School in Beijing provides series of courses on Chinese studies, general and frontier disciplines, and Chinese language courses for overseas students.

Silk Road School at Renmin University of China (Suzhou) offers two year long Master of Contemporary Chinese Studies. The school offers comprehensive scholarship for all successfull applicants.

Confucius Institute organizes 9 day long visits to China for Finnish educators and school principals. The idea is to give insight to Chinese education system by visiting local schools, universities and institutions. The trip suits especially for principals who are having or planning to have Chinese language teaching in their school or wish to find a partner school in China. In one group there can be maximun 10 participants.
The trips are usually arraged during school holidays in June or October. Next trip takes place in 13-21 October 2018.
The participants need to cover the visa and travel expenses to and from China by themselvelves. Confucius Institute Headquarters cover all the costs in China.
The group is hosted by Renmin University of China, partner university of the Confucius Institute at the University of Helsinki. Renmin University drafts a program according to the wishes of the delegation and is in charge of the overall arrangement during the visit in China.
The trip is annouced usually about half a year in advance and you need to register for the trip latest 3 months before the start of it. If you interested in joing the visit China program, contact the coordinator Mariliina Räsänen.
In 2017 Confucius Institute organized for the first time a visit to China for Finnish upper secondary school and vocational schools students. To honor Finland 100 years of indepenced China invited 100 Finnish students to visit China.
