The Finnish Museum of Natural History (Luomus) is an independent institute of the University of Helsinki with a national duty to preserve, accumulate, and display the national natural history collections as well as to provide related research and teaching, operate as the national Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) authority and manage the Finnish Biodiversity Information Facility.
Units
Luomus has five units. In addition to the Zoology Unit, the Botany and Mycology Unit and the Earth Sciences Unit, which are responsible for research and collections in their respective fields, the museum includes the Public Engagement and Biodiversity Informatics units.
