Illustration Shares Knowledge – The exhibition showcases the techniques of scientific illustration

Maria Leskinen’s illustrations will be showcased at the Natural History Museum café from June 15 to August 16, 2026, in the exhibition Illustration Shares Knowledge. The exhibition explores the captivating world of scientific illustration, merging artistry with research. Featured species include familiar ones as well as a charming capybara from Brazil, an urban burrowing owl, and the newly discovered Kamping Poi bent-toed gecko from Cambodia. The display includes detailed illustrations and infographics, some created with the help of a microscope, showcasing a range of techniques from traditional drawing to digital art.

Illustration Shares Knowledge will be on display at the Natural History Museum café from June 15 to August 16, 2026.

The café follows the museum's opening hours and opens half an hour after the museum itself. Admission to the café is free.

Research groups, artists, photographers, writers, nature enthusiasts, and others interested in nature are welcome to propose exhibitions for the Natural History Museum and the botanical gardens in Kaisaniemi and Kumpula.
