Student register for the quality assurance of the Student’s digital skills course

4. Purpose of the processing of the personal data

The primary purpose of the personal data file is to enable the collection of feedback necessary for quality assurance from the students participating in the Student’s digital skills course at the University of Helsinki. The personal data in the file is used, among other things, to improve the self-study materials given to the students, the way the course is organised, and the tools used for the evaluation of learning (self-evaluation tasks and the competence test).

 

5. Contents of the personal data file

 

 

Information collected through the Moodle learning environment:

  • Last name
  • First name
  • Username
  • Student number
  • Scores of the entry level tests and competence tests
  • Feedback on the test given by the student

Information collected through the feedback form (eLomake system)::

  • Information collected through the feedback form (eLomake system):
  • The time when the information was saved (date, time)
  • Username (when signing in to the system)
  • Age
  • Study programme
  • Phase of studies
  • The age and operating system of the computer used in completing the course
  • Course feedback provided by the student on the Student’s digital skills course

6. Regular sources of information  *

The information will be collected from the students through the eLomake system. The permission to process the information will be requested from the students in conjunction with the feedback form.

7. Regular recipients of the information and transfer of files outside the EU or ETA

The information on the students’ scores from the entry level tests and the competence test are available for viewing in the Moodle learning environment to those persons responsible for teaching on the course.

The person responsible for the personal data file will process the feedback given by the students (feedback from the eLomake system) and hand over electronically the anonymized feedback from the students to the Head of Academic Affairs of each faculty and to other personnel responsible for Teaching and Learning Services of the University of Helsinki.

8. Principles for securing the file

A. Manual material

No manual material will be kept on the basis of the personal data file. The anonymized feedback can be processed in cooperation with the persons participating in the organisation of the course. This is done in such a manner that no individuals’ feedback providers can be recognized on the basis of the feedback material or its parts.

B. Material processed using IT equipment

The information collected will be saved on the university’s servers by the person responsible for the personal data file (section 2). The information can only be accessed by entering a username and a password. No manual material will be kept on the basis of the collected data. The anonymized feedback can be processed in cooperation with the persons participating in the organisation of the course. This is done in such a manner that no individuals’ feedback providers can be recognized on the basis of the material or its parts.
