Helsinki University Library offers the university community a variety of services for open access publishing. Open monographs are published in the Helda Open Books collection and open scientific and student journals in the Editori service. Helsinki University Press, an open science publishing house, operates in connection with the library.
The library supports university researchers with publication fees (APC) and offers support on open access and self-archiving.
For researchers at the University of Helsinki, there are also channels for open access publication of both journals and books:
- Helsinki University Press (HUP) is a fully open access University Press, publishing high-quality scholarly literature.
- Helda Digital Repository – Helda is a repository service that aims to increase the visibility, use and impact of the University's publications and to provide a stable and long-term repository for them. Peer-reviewed articles and other publications are automatically transferred to Helda from the University's Research Data System (TUHAT).
- Helda Open Books is a collection of Helda, the University’s digital repository, HOB can be used to publish entire books, reports and learning materials with the permission of the copyright holders.
- Editori, a service by Helsinki University Library for editing and publishing open journals and learning scientific publishing practices
