Since 2020, the Faculty of Law at the University of Helsinki has been publishing Oikeuden perusteet (Basics of law) book series, which has been used in university entrance examinations. The Finnish and Swedish language books have also been used as textbooks in upper secondary schools and universities of applied sciences – and they have provided basic information for anyone interested in legal issues.
Now, 35 of the more than 40 books in the series are openly available in the University of Helsinki's Helda repository. 18 of the books have been published in the Helda Open Books collection, where they are given an international DOI identifier and an Creative Commons licence; the books are also provided with metadata and checked for accessibility. The remaining 16 books can be found in the Helda’s Books collection. All books can be found in the Helka online library. The books were transferred to Helda from Unigrafia's Unicontent online store, which closed at the beginning of April.
Helda Open Books and Helda provide an open and charge-free publishing platform for researchers and teachers at the University of Helsinki.
