The renovation of Aleksandria kicked off - workshops have gathered a lot of feedback to support the planning process

The renewal of Aleksandria is developed together with the university's students and staff in workshops.

Construction of Aleksandria's new facilities started in October. The renovation will update Aleksandria's facilities to meet the demands of evolving teaching and learning methods. The pop-up workshops held in the spring and autumn terms have gathered a lot of feedback and questions. Thank you to everyone who has participated so far! Two more workshops will be held during the autumn term:

  • Wed 13 November at 11-13, Kaisa House entrance floor (3rd floor). The topic is services in the new Aleksandria. What kind of services would you like to see in Aleksandria to make your learning experience better?
  • Tue 10 December at 11-13, Kaisa House entrance floor (3rd floor). Update on the plans for Aleksandria. Welcome to discuss!

The workshops will also continue in the spring term at dates to be announced later.

Feedback supports the planning process

Plenty of workspaces will remain available, with new, more ergonomic furniture. Acoustics and soundproofing will also be improved. In addition to quiet work areas, students have requested facilities where they can talk more freely. This allows for group work and remote learning. It is also important to support students' relaxation with appropriate facility solutions. Diverse furniture designs aim to improve the functionality of study spaces designed to meet different needs.

Occasional noise due to renovations

In addition to the renovation of Aleksandria, renovation work began in October on Vuorikatu 3, which will provide new premises for university services staff. The renovations at both Aleksandria and Vuorikatu 3 will cause occasional noise impacts until March 2025. The noisiest work will be scheduled for the morning hours.
