The PAS service preserves the most valuable and high-quality research data
The University of Helsinki is launching a PAS service for the long-term preservation of research data. The purpose of long-term preservation of the University of Helsinki digital material is to ensure the findability and usability of nationally significant research material for decades.
The PAS is a curated service, i.e. the data sets stored there must pass a selection process. In the selection process, the value of the materials and their technical suitability for long-term preservation will be evaluated. The decision to preserve the data sets is made by the University of Helsinki research committees of the faculties, which will assess the national significance of the data sets.
DataCite DOI
The University of Helsinki will also offer permanent DOI identifiers for the University of Helsinki research. The digital object identifier (DOI) is a unique and permanent identifier for a digital object or document. DOI identifier for digital research data allows linking to the data set and enables data reuse.
