Open access publishing continued to grow

In March 2024, nearly 85% of the University of Helsinki´s peer-reviewed articles were open access.

The University of Helsinki publishes around 12 000 publications every year. As in previous years, Helsinki University Library reminded researchers to report and self-archive publications in a timely manner.

Almost 85% of the University of Helsinki's peer-reviewed publications are already openly available. Similarly, the proportion of open access books was a record 35% at the end of the reporting period.

To facilitate the reporting of the University of Helsinki researchers' YVV (social impact) publication data, the Library launched a form through which researchers can report non-refereed publications to the Library.

The library also checks all publication data, as well as importing data from international databases.
