Information seeking courses during the second teaching period

Participate in this online course that is open to everyone whenever and wherever it fits into your schedule.

This course is designed for students about to start working on their bachelor’s or master’s thesis. The course is available until the end of the academic year.

Information seeking webinar   

During the webinar, you will practise information seeking using international databases.  

  • Information Seeking Basics in English (Zoom). Tuesday, 16 November 2021 at 10.15–11.45.

Zotero and other reference management tools 

During the second teaching period, Helsinki University Library will organise courses on the Zotero reference management tool in Finnish and Swedish. RefWorks courses will no longer be organised as access to RefWorks at the University of Helsinki will end on 31 December 2021.   

If you have previously used RefWorks and wish to continue using your references, you should transfer the references to another reference management tool before access to RefWorks ends. See the reference management guide on how to do this.

During the second teaching period, Helsinki University Library will also organise an online event in English on different reference management tools.  

  • Reference management: How to choose a reference management tool on Thursday, 4 November 2021 at 11.00–12.00. No registration required. Link to Zoom. Passcode: 857065.

How do I register for the courses?   

Registration for library courses and webinars is mainly via this e-form. You can see the times in the dropdown menu of the e-form under Ilmoittautuminen / Anmälning / Registration.  

Changes to dates are possible. Registration for the courses usually ends two days before the start of the course. Courses for which registration has ended or which are full will not appear in the dropdown menu of the e-form.  

NB! The Iris.ai webinar has its own separate registration link.   

For the MOOC course, there is continuous registration during the term, and you can register directly in the course area.  

How to find courses    

Helsinki University Library regularly organises courses on information seeking and reference management. Most of the courses are held in Finnish and some of them are in English or Swedish.   

Students and staff of the University of Helsinki may participate in the courses free of charge.
