American Resource Center close in the Kaisa House

The diverse collection of books and journals will be merged into the collections of the Helsinki University Library.

American Resource Center has closed on June 7, 2020. The service and personnel of ARC is no longer available in the Kaisa House. The diverse collection of North American books and journals accumulated over the years will, however, remain within University of Helsinki and will be merged into the collections of the Helsinki University Library. The books and journals that will remain in the university library can still be found in the Helka library database.

The ARC was originally founded in 1946 and for decades it was managed by the United States Information Service (USIS). Starting in 1993, the ARC operated under a partnership arrangement (MOU) with the University of Helsinki allowing the ARC separate facility status within the Helsinki University.

Helsinki University Library thanks American Resource Center and its personnel for their close cooperation over the years.
