Interdisciplinary Network of Sustainability Doctoral Researchers

The network brings together diverse doctoral students working on sustainability topics and interested in interdisciplinary perspectives and methods.

Conceived during HELSUS Tuesday morning Sustainability Pitches (and supported by HELSUS and the ELOISA doctoral program) driven by current doctoral researcher Sonja Repetti and recently graduated doctoral researcher Sara Zaman, this network brings together diverse doctoral students working on sustainability topics and interested in interdisciplinary perspectives and methods. Interested doctoral researchers can join our community and mailing list (). The network are organising regular after-work meetups to share experiences and come up with ways of making it easier to do Interdisciplinary research at the University of Helsinki, which will hopefully lead to other activities organised bottom up based on identified needs.

The network is an open call to doctoral researchers across University of Helsinki campuses and doctoral programs. On April 27th, 2026, a kickoff meeting was held to gather input from students seeking support for training in interdisciplinary research and to begin forming a network around these needs.

Please contact Sonja Repetti or Sara Zaman () to join the mailing list for sharing useful/interesting information and links and as a first point of contact for advice. Our aim is to build a sustainable network supporting collective, bottom-up action, and safe expression of multiple research disciplines.
