Come join us for a two-hour beginner-friendly bird walk at the Töölönlahti Bay on Wednesday 9 September 2026 at 9:30–11:30 a.m.
Birdwatching instructor, university researcher Marko Halonen will guide you how to spot and identify birds and share tips on the best sites for birding in the city. He will also talk about the changes in bird species composition and related sustainability challenges. In Helsinki, more than 150 bird species nest in the city but many of these species are threatened or near threatened.
Our meeting point is in front of the Oodi Library on the Kansalaistori Square (Töölönlahdenkatu 4, Helsinki). The bird walk starts from there at 9:30 and ends at the Kaisaniemi Botanic garden at 11:30 a.m.
The language of instruction is English.
The event is open to everyone – even the youngest family members are more than welcome!
Kindly, dress appropriately for the weather and bring binoculars with you if possible.
