The Neuroscience Center (NC) is an independent research and teaching institute at the University of Helsinki. Main operational facilities are located on the Viikki and Meilahti campuses, and is shifting activities more to the Meilahti campus in 2018.
The mission of the NC is to carry out excellent and multidisciplinary research on the development, normal functions and disorders of the nervous systems. Research and the teaching in the NC focus on the following four areas: molecular and cellular neuroscience, developmental neuroscience, cognitive and systems neuroscience, and basic research of the nervous system diseases. The research groups work in at least one of the research areas. At the moment, there are 16 research groups in the NC.
