The Neuroscience Center is seeking outstanding candidates for the positions of Group Leader. The Neuroscience Center (NC) focuses on research in molecular and cellular neuroscience, developmental neuroscience, cognitive and systems neuroscience, and basic research of the nervous system diseases. The Neuroscience Center has currently 12 research groups and about 100 staff members. It operates currently on the Viikki biological and Meilahti medical campuses and is obtaining new space in Meilahti during 2017. NC hosts state-of-art for brain imaging facility including three multiphoton microscopes for fast scanning 3D brain imaging and optogenetic stimulation in fish and awake rodents, as well behavioural facilities for mouse and zebrafish and a neuronal cell culture unit. The working language at the NC is English. As of 2017 Neuroscience Center is a unit of HiLIFE and collaborates locally with faculties and organizations with an interest in neuroscience.
The Neuroscience Center is seeking outstanding candidates for the positions of Group Leader for a five year appointment starting from January 1, 2018.
The Group Leader is expected to have a doctoral degree and postdoctoral training from a relevant field in neuroscience, as well as excellent scientific track record with high-impact publications. In addition to his/her own research work the successful candidate is expected to participate in the teaching and supervision of students.
The Neuroscience Center provides the successful candidate with a negotiable support package including salary, support to other personnel and consumables as well as modern laboratory and office facilities. Group leaders are expected to complement their support package through national or international grants and/or industrial collaborations. Core facilities and other high-level research infrastructures of Neuroscience Center and HiLIFE will be at the disposal of the successful candidate.
