Business Finland's Research to Business funding is open for applications
Funding call 2/2022 is now open for applications. Researchers wishing to submit an application for the preparatory process for this funding instrument must submit their applications to Helsinki Innovation Services latest 24.6.2022.

1. Call An­nounce­ment and In­struc­tions

  • General information about the funding instrument can be found on Business Finland's website.
  • An info event on the funding tool open for all University of Helsinki researchers will be organised by HIS on 17.5.2022 at 14:00–14:45.
    • The info event is organised via Zoom, the link for participation can be found on Flamma. The info event is open for all University of Helsinki researchers, no registration is required.
  • The actual funding applications are submitted via the Business Finland Online ServicesThe application period closes approximately in mid-September 2022, the exact date will be confirmed by Business Finland.

2. UH's In­ternal Guid­ance

  • Researchers wishing to submit an application that falls under this funding instrument, must submit their Invention and idea disclosure form to by 24.6.2022. In the message body, kindly include the information that you wish to apply for the Research to Business funding.
  • The applicability of the proposed research project to this funding instrument will be assessed by HIS. The assessment will be carried out in accordance with Business Finland’s criteria.
  • The researchers will receive an invitation to a separate Research to Business Funding coaching before its start.
  • The researcher is liable for submitting the application to Business Finland by the deadline.

3. Coaching and Sup­port

  • HIS organises a so-called Research to Business Funding Coaching (previously known as NABC training) that acts as a preparatory process for Research to Business -funding applications. There will be four training sessions, where the applicants will practice e.g. pitching. The training aims to develop the commercial potential of the projects, and the most promising ones will advance to a pitching event for Business Finland representatives. The projects are supported in preparing the project plan and the written application. Business Finland and the University of Helsinki strongly recommend participating in the training.
  • The dates for the coaching sessions are 10.8., 12.8., 17.8. and 23.8. The Business Finland pitching event takes place 26.8.
  • The coaching is held mainly via Zoom, possibly with some sessions on-site.
