Get to know the new Fellows of the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies

The Collegium welcomes 25 new researchers at the beginning of September 2018. More than a half of them are from outside Finland.

The new Collegium Fellows come to Helsinki to work on their research projects in different fields of the humanities and social sciences and to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation both within the Collegium and at the University of Helsinki. The project presentations and short bios of all current Fellows can be found on the Collegium's new website. There are over 40 scholars working at the Collegium this academic year.

One of the international researchers at the Helsinki Collegium this year is Jane Cowan, who will serve as the Jane and Aatos Erkko Visiting Professor in Studies on Contemporary Society in 2018-2019. Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Sussex, UK, Cowan focuses in her research on themes such as the anthropology of gender and masculinity, minority rights, diplomacy and international relations and Greece and the Balkans. The professorship, hosted by the Collegium, was established in 2008 as a result of a donation from the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation.
