The Faculty Council of the Faculty of Science appointed Professor of computer science, the Deputy Dean, Sasu Tarkoma to the position of the Dean for the period from 1 March 2022 to 31 July 2023, during Kai Nordlund's term as vice rector. Sasu Tarkoma has previously acted as the Vice-Dean and Deputy Dean.
The previous Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Kai Nordlund was earlier appointed as Vice-Rector of the University of Helsinki, responsible for academic affairs, bilingual activities and digitalisation.
"I am grateful for the trust, and it is really great to support the development of our faculty and our community in Kumpula. The coming year looks busy, but the work is very motivating and of course rewarding when we get things moving forward," Sasu Tarkoma says.
