Hanna Niemi-Hugaerts leads the Internet of things portfolio at the City of Helsinki’s innovation company Forum Virium Helsinki. For the past seven years, she has worked on opening up Smart Cities and engaging developers to turn machine-readable data into human usable services. She leads a team of 11 experts aiming for top-notch open, modular, silo-crossing IoT solutions that improve our quality of life, help us live in a more sustainable manner and enable new innovations. The program advances with 5G connectivity on a variety of projects such as UIA Hope and UrbanSense. During her years in Forum Virium Helsinki Hanna has been boosting the use of open data by launching the Helsinki Loves Developers program and data competence building for companies under the DataBusiness brand. Currently her team is working on consent management solutions to unleash the potential of personal data.
Matti Keskinen has worked at Nokia since 1982. Matti’s contributions have been mainly in the Mobile Core networks where the first touch with this was the Nordic Mobile Telephone (NMT) system in 1984. Since the NMT project, he has been involved in each 3GPP based Mobile Core Network project (GSM, UMTS, LTE) managing R&D organizations and business-related activities in these projects. From 2013 onwards Matti’s role has been consultative not only inside Nokia but also towards customers and research Institutes. In this role - in addition to core networks - he is also strongly contributing to Radio Networks (LTE evolution and 5G), IoT, and Telco Cloud technologies.
Jussi Kangasharju received his MSc from Helsinki University of Technology in 1998. He received his Diplome d'Etudes Approfondies (DEA) from the Ecole Superieure des Sciences Informatiques (ESSI) in Sophia Antipolis in 1998. In 2002 he received his PhD from University of Nice Sophia Antipolis/Institut Eurecom. In 2002 he joined Darmstadt University of Technology (TUD), first as post-doctoral researcher, and from 2004 onwards as assistant professor. Since June 2007 Jussi is a professor at the department of computer science at University of Helsinki. Between 2009 and 2012 he was the director of the Future Internet research program at Helsinki Institute for Information Technology (HIIT). Jussi's research interests are information-centric networks, edge and cloud computing, content distribution, opportunistic networks, and green ICT. He is a member of IEEE and ACM.
