Professor Jari Yli-Kauhaluoma appointed Faculty of Pharmacy dean

At its meeting on 14 November 2023, the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Pharmacy decided on the appointment of the dean for a five-year term of office beginning on 1 January 2024.

The appointee was selected through an open application process running from 20 September to 18 October 2023.

“I’m happy and grateful. Our Faculty is a forward-looking, inclusive and international community relying on solid pharmaceutical research and research-based teaching. During my five-year term, I can draw on what I have already learned over the almost two years I spent attending to the duties of Faculty dean. In that time, I also became familiar with the University administration and operations and with my fellow deans too,” says Jari Yli-Kauhaluoma.

“The Faculty of Pharmacy has a bright future ahead: from January 2024, we will have the chance to work with our first professors of practice, who will focus on the supply of medicinal products and security of supply and on drug development, respectively. In addition, the world’s first professor of sustainable pharmacy is expected to take up their position next year. I believe that the availability of teaching independent of time and place will increase, as will our research-based innovation activities. Our students and staff are exceptional, and working with them is a real pleasure,” states Yli-Kauhaluoma.
