This is the first time the summer school will be held in Finland. Previous editions have taken place at leading German universities, such as Freiburg, Kiel, and Halle-Wittenberg, and the Helsinki event continues this tradition of fostering international collaboration in sustainable pharmacy.
A four-day programme exploring health, sustainability and the pharmaceutical sciences
The summer school blends expert lectures, group discussions, a poster session, and plenty of opportunities for international networking. The programme is designed to explore the intersection of health, sustainability, and pharmaceutical sciences, thereby contributing to a holistic understanding of sustainable pharmacy.
The themes covered during the summer school include planetary health, pharmaceutical development, pharmaceutical policy and legislative landscape, and education and collaboration. The keynote speakers are leading experts in the field, including Prof. Christian Peifer (University of Kiel) and Prof. Michael Müller (University of Freiburg).
Supporting doctoral researchers and strengthening international networks
The programme’s multidisciplinary approach enhances transferable skills, encourages integration of sustainability into doctoral research, and strengthens international collaboration. For doctoral researchers, credits are awarded for active participation across the four days, including a poster or oral presentation.
