It is the goal of the Faculty of Science to be one of the top European ones in all of its disciplines. Thus, the teaching within the sciences is based on the research, which is carried out by internationally renowned scientists.
Long-standing basic research is what the faculty invests in. The work is carried out in interaction with applied research, corporate and public-sector organisations.
Within interdisciplinary research projects, the scientists collaborate with the research institutes on Kumpula campus, other faculties and universities, and corporate partners. Open science also brings a new kind of collaboration partners and networks.
