Specialisation programmes in psychology

Specialist training (70 credits) in psychology is university-level professional specialisation education completed after graduating with a master’s degree.

The University of Helsinki implements the Specialisation Programmes in Clinical Mental Health Psychology and Neuropsycholygy. The specialisation programmes in psychology are organised in cooperation with the national Psykonet (in Finnish) university network.

The three-year specialisation programme is completed alongside work.

The specialist training in psychology is fee-based professional specialisation education (section 2 of Government Decree 1082/2009). The fee for the 70-credit programme is €8,400.

The Specialisation Programme in Neuropsychology is targeted at people who have a master’s degree in psychology or a corresponding degree (a licence awarded by the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health Valvira) and who wish to serve in positions associated with clinical neuropsychology in specialised care, primary healthcare or the private sector.

Clinical neuropsychology focuses on injuries and illnesses of the central nervous system, the assessment and rehabilitation of the psychological implications of developmental disorders and learning difficulties, as well as the steering of networks and related consultation.
