Hazhaow: My name is Hazhaow Murad, and I am a second-year Master's student in Food Sciences. When I started my studies, I sometimes found myself searching for information and answers on my own, which taught me how important timely guidance and support can be for new students. This inspired me to become a tutor so that I can help new students feel welcomed, informed, and confident from the beginning of their studies.
Olajumoke: My name is Olajumoke Sanni, and I am a second-year Master’s student in Animal Nutrition at the University of Helsinki. As a late-arriving student, I received valuable support from student tutors who helped me settle into university life and stay on track academically. Their guidance inspired me to become a tutor so that I can help new students feel welcomed, supported, and confident as they begin their studies.
Oluwaseyi: My name is Oluwaseyi Adeleke, I have just completed my first year as a Master's student in Plant Production Sciences at the University of Helsinki. As an international student, I found the orientation program very helpful when I first arrived. It provided guidance on what to do, where to find important information, and how to settle. This experience inspired me to become a tutor. I would like to provide the same support to incoming students.
Ruoyu: My name is Ruoyu Zhang, I am a 1st year Master’s student in Food Science. Last year, when I had just arrived, despite my tutor's help, I still went through a long and complicated housing rental process. Renting an apartment is a huge deal for new students. So, if you have any questions about it—including internet and electricity contracts—just let me know!
Hazhaow: I am excited to meet the first group of students in this new master's programme and see how the programme develops. I look forward to helping students settle into university life, building a supportive community, and sharing experiences about study life and living in Finland.
Olajumoke: I am excited to meet students from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and I look forward to helping them settle into their new academic environment.
