This winter in Finland has seen the country transform into a frozen, snow-covered wonderland, to the delight of some, and possibly to the horror of others. Some people enjoy skiing in magical snowy landscapes, and others prefer a hot summer’s day at the beach. But whether one is a winter person or not, there is always great beauty to be found in nature; surely the sight of heart-shaped holes in the ice would warm anyone’s heart even on the coldest of days? Temperatures in January and February have been lower than -10 degrees, even reached as low as -25 degrees at the beginning of the year. The walkways have been icy and slippery, making every trip to campus an incredible feat.
