Accessibility and event day practicalities
Accessibility and event day practicalities can be found here.

The building, completed in 1964 is very old, but it was renovated in 2015 with user diversity in mind. The conference venue’s lobby is accessible and even though the auditoriums are old and not fully accessible, all sessions can be followed on the top side of the auditoriums. The venue (U-wing) has a wheelchair to borrow.

  • Accessible entrance:
The building has multiple accessible doors, and we recommend using the N door(* to the most direct accessible entrance to the venue, “U-wing” of the building. *)When you arrive, please call U-wing’s lobby services: 0504722980.
  • Induction loop is available in most of our auditoriums where the programme takes place.
  • Restrooms: An accessible toilet is located near the lobby.
  • Language: the main language of the event is English.
  • Cloakroom: We have a cloakroom for guests in the lobby area. There will be staff there throughout the whole day, but we recommend you don’t leave any valuables in there.
Event days practicalities

We will have a cloakroom at the venue, as well as an info desk to help you. Please arrive well in advance and check in at the registration desk. Coffee and tea will be served in the morning, 8AM forward, as well some light snacks during the conference breaks.

Lunch will be at your own cost.  We recommend restaurant Factory’s SSD signature vegan salads for lunch! Factor’s salad bar truck will be serving fresh vegan salads for both event days at the M-door of the Undergraduate Centre. You can also find restaurant Factory at Otakaari 5 for more lunch options.

There are also multiple good food places within a short walking distance of the venue, for example at ABloc shopping center’s (in connection with Aalto University metro station) Food&Co ABloc Wicked Rabbit concept offers a vegan lunch buffet.

Walking from the Undergraduate Center to restaurant Factory (Otakaari 5) takes 6 minutes to walk. To ABloc, the walking distance is 3 minutes.

The free snacks offered by us are all vegan, and we’ve reserved a few gluten-free options as well. However, as a free conference we are unfortunately unable to take other allergies into consideration, so please note this with the catering we offer.

Covid precautions

We’re following the THL’s current guidelines on Covid, which means that we don’t require mask usage, but everyone can use them at their own discretion.

Even though restrictions have been lifted, we still would like to remind you to participate in the conference on-site, only if you are completely healthy.

Home-testing kits for Covid–19 are available in most convenience stores and pharmacies in Finland. If you have symptoms of the virus and/or test positive, please do not attend the conference on-site!
