Post-Conference Excursion to Lonna Island

Join us for a post-conference cool down on Lonna Island!

We will take a boat to the enchanting Lonna Island to enjoy a pulla (sweet bun), coffee, and some relaxing time together. We will have a landing spot in one of the historic buildings from 16-18. However, you are free to explore the island at your leisure and have a final hang out with your fellow conference attendees. The island has great spots for relaxing and a public sauna.

Schedule:

After the final plenary concludes at University of Helsinki’s ThinkCorner, those joining for the excursion will walk together to the harbor Market to the "Kolera-altaan laituri" (map here). The ferry to the island will leave at 15:30 and the trip will take approximately 15 minutes.

We will walk together from the ferry to one of Lonna’s historic buildings where we will be met with a pulla and coffee together. If you have opted to book a sauna, the first group will start in the sauna at 16:30, while the second group starts at 17:30. Each sauna turn lasts for 2 hours. The sauna has seperate dressing rooms, but the sauna itself is mixed. Bathing suit is required. There is also a beach on the island if you want to bring your swimming gear! Please note that you do not need to have a sauna time reserved to swim in the sea.

The JT Line ferry back to Market Square leaves approximately once an hour and you can go back to the mainland whenever you wish, you do not have to wait for the group to return to Helsinki (the round-trip ferry ticket is included in the price of the excursion).

Please note that space is limited, so sign up early if you would like to join us on Lonna Island.
