Getting here and getting around

Here you can find useful information and tips for everyone arriving in Helsinki. The travel guide made for conference participants can be downloaded here.

Arriving in Helsinki

It is easy to arrive in Helsinki by train, bus or airplane. The central railway station is located in the heart of the city, and many buses (e.g., to Kumpula) depart from Helsinki Railway Square just outside the station. Long-distance buses arrive at the bus station in Kamppi in the city centre. The I and P local trains depart from the Helsinki Airport to the city centre every few minutes.

Getting around Helsinki

Try the easy-to-use Journey Planner offered by the Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (HSL). You can buy a single ticket for public transport from a ticket machine, R-kioski or other HSL sales points, or use the HSL app. Please note that tickets are not sold on local trains and trams, but you can buy a single ticket from a bus driver using cash. For more information on sales points and ticket fares, please see the HSL website.

Helsinki’s yellow city bikes are a useful and fun way to explore the city! For more information on city bikes, please see the HSL website.

Kumpula Campus

Kumpula Campus is located four kilometres from the centre of Helsinki within easy reach by bus or tram. Exactum, the venue for the Pedaforum seminar, is located at Pietari Kalmin katu 5. The closest HSL ticket sales point can be found in the Arabia shopping centre some 400 metres from Exactum. Arriving by car is not advisable due to the limited number of parking spaces on the streets of the campus area.
