How to get there
FORSA/NOUSA 2018 takes place in the heart of the Helsinki city centre. The main conference venue, University of Helsinki Main Building, is located by the Senate Square, walking distance (600 meters) from the Central Railway Station. Trams 2, 4, 5 and 7 stop next to the Main Building.
Registration, lunch and coffee breaks, most of the workshop sessions, as well as keynote lectures on Friday will be held in the University Main Building. Keynote lectures on Thursday will be held in the Porthania Building (Street address: Yliopistonkatu 3, Gatuadress: Universitetsgatan 3). In addition, some of the workshop sessions on Thursday will be held in the Porthania Building and at the House of Science and Letters (Tieteiden talo, Vetenskapernas hus, Street address: Kirkkokatu 6, Gatuadress: Kyrkogatan 6), which is by walking distance from the University Main Building.
The registration desk is located in the entrance lobby of the Main Building. The paper sessions held in the lecture halls of the Main Building are partly on the “new side” and partly on the “old side” of the Main Building. The main access through the Main Building from side to side is on the second floor. Lecture rooms marked with numbers (Lecture room 1) are on the “new side” (Fabianinkatu side, street address: Fabianinkatu 33). Auditoriums marked with Roman numbers (Aud X) are on the “old side” (on the Senate Square side, street address: Unioninkatu 34).

Hotels with special conference rates
A limited number of rooms with special conference rates has been reserved for the period of November 20th to November 23rd, 2018 (three nights in total). Please note that each participant makes their own reservation and all hotel fees are to be paid directly to the hotel. While making a booking, remember to mention the dates and allotment code given with each hotel.

Other hotels, without special conference rates
If you fly to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport you can travel by train (I and P -trains) or take the bus number 615 from the airport to Helsinki Central Railway Station. The Central Railway Station is located in the heart of the city centre, by walking distance from the conference hotels and the conference venue. Tickets can be purchased from ticket machines at the airport. When using a ticket machine, please select the option "regional ticket" for journeys between the airport and Helsinki. A one-way ticket costs 5 euros. The railway station is the final stop of bus number 615 and both trains. Is located at the South Harbour and there is a regular passenger ship link to Stockholm, Sweden. The terminal has an ATM, luggage lockers, a trolley rental, a restaurant, kiosk, and the Tallink Silja service point. Trams 2 and 3 stop next to the Olympia Terminal.
West Terminal 1
Is located at the West Harbour and it concentrates on traffic to Tallinn, Estonia. There is also a regular passenger ship link to St. Petersburg, Russia. The terminal has luggage lockers, a restaurant, café, kiosk, an ATM, money exchange office (open when the St. Petersburg ship is there) and the Eckerö Line, St. Peter Line and Tallink Silja Oy service points. Trams 7 and 6T stop next to the West Terminal.
Is located at Katajanokka, with a regular ferry connection to Stockholm and Tallinn. The terminal has a restaurant, kiosk, a money exchange, an ATM, luggage lockers, and the Viking Line service point. Trams 4 and 5 stop next to the Katajanokka Terminal.

Helsinki, the capital of Finland, is a modern city with over half a million residents and situated on the Baltic Sea. Helsinki’s climate is typical of its northerly situation. Its intermediate climate combines characteristics of both a maritime and a continental climate.
Around 200 international flights a day arrive at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, which is situated 19 kilometres from the centre of Helsinki and can be reached by car in approximately 25 minutes. You can also take taxi, the Finnair city bus and bus 615, or trains I and P to the Central Railway Station. A taxi to city centre costs approximately 35-40 euros.
