Arriving at Helsinki
When arriving at the Helsinki airport you will get to the city centre by train, bus or taxi.
Train: Two train lines (P-train and I-train) serve the airport, both of which will take you to the central railway station in Helsinki (c. 30 min). The entrance to the train station at the airport is in Terminal 1 (arrivals floor), please follow the signs.
Bus: Service no. 615 leaves in front of Terminals 1&2 and takes you to the central railway station in Helsinki (c. 30 min).
Finnair city bus (not part of the Helsinki public transport system, and more expensive) takes you from Terminals 1&2 to the central railway station.
Taxi: New legislation concerning taxis will take effect on August 1 2018. Traditionally, taxis in Finland have been expensive (40-50e from the airport to the city centre) and reliable, but it is currently unknown if and how this will change with the new legislation. There will probably be different companies offerring their services at the airport.
In case you are coming from Tallinn with a ferry, you are most likely to arrive at West Terminal 1 or West Terminal 2. Trams 6T and 7 will take you from the West Terminal to the city centre. The West Terminal is located in Jätkäsaari where massive building works are going on at the moment.
Tickets for trains, buses and trams
You can buy tickets from vending machines near the bus stops or in front of the terminals (airport and ferry) and at the airport train station. Please note that for the train and tram you need to buy the ticket in advance. For the trams, you can also order a ticket via sms, see the link below. In the bus, you can also buy the ticket from the driver with cash. It is also possible to download a ticket application to your smartphone (HSL mobile ticket app, see the link below).
Note that when travelling from/to the airport (train/bus), you will need to have a regional ticket (5€ from a machine, 5.5€ from the driver, 4.20€ mobile/app).
