The Conference App for your smartphone or tablet is available for all conference participants and ready to use. The instructions for how to install the App are in the Welcome to Gender Studies 2019 email sent to you on Friday 18th.

We warmly recommend downloading the App, since all updates, news and last minute program changes will only be sent through the application during the conference. They will be updated to the Agenda as well as News or Alert sections in the application.

We welcome you to participate in a discussion event on one of the most complex and large-scale problem of our time: climate change and its links to numerous forms of violences and injustices. The panel discussion will be in Think Corner (Yliopistonkatu 4) on Friday the 25th of October between 16.30 and 18.00.

When arriving to the conference and doing the onsite registration at the conference info desk, you can also register to one of Friday’s Self-Care activities. Get creative in the collage workshop, join the Art Historical tour or slow down your mind in a gentle yoga class! 

The registration desk will be open already on Wednesday 23rd of October from 15.00 to 19.00 in Porthania (Yliopistonkatu 3). The registration/info desk will be open during all the conference days from morning until conference activities are over. 

A conference application will be available during the Gender Studies 2019 Conference: On Violence. It is free to download for conference participants. The app contains features such as abstracts, programme, notifications about the possible updates in the programme, maps, venue information and other useful features. More information will be coming soon!

Gender Studies 2019 conference is less than a month away! The deadline for registrations is 4th of October. 

Gender Studies conference 2019: On Violence is pleased to provide an exciting opportunity for the conference participants to take part in a pre-conference seminar on the 23rd of October at the University of Helsinki. The event is organized by the Center for University Teaching and Learning in collaboration with University of Oulu.

The seminar focuses on questions around academic careers, and how to support early career researchers in finding their way through academia. The event aims to promote research based understanding on doctoral experience, and offer tools for promoting early career researcher development.

The seminar is particularly targeted to PhD students, post-PhD researchers and doctoral supervisors. The event comprises of series of parallel workshops that focus on different aspects of doctoral education and researcher careers. Participants can choose one or two workshops according to their own interests. The workshops are given by an international researcher network specialized in research on doctoral education and researcher careers.

Maximum of 24 participants for each of the workshop will be admitted. The seminar is free of charge (including lunch), but only those who register in advance can attend the workshops. The deadline for registration is October 20. You can find more detailed information and register for the workshops here.
