Session description

This session invites papers that explore the themes of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across various social, cultural, and organizational contexts. These are defined as the components of the DEIB framework. DEIB is a well-established framework for addressing multicultural classrooms and workplace settings; however, it is less commonly applied in broader contexts, such as migration.  The session aims to bring together perspectives that illuminate how DEIB principles are enacted, contested, and transformed in practice, and how communities and organizations can foster fairer and more inclusive societies. We invite contributions that critically explore how individuals and groups negotiate belonging, challenge exclusion, and foster more just and inclusive spaces within migratory contexts. Submissions may address topics such as:

  • Practices of inclusion and exclusion in different contexts such as education, the workplace, and community life.
  • The roles of NGOs, institutions, public sectors, media, and social narratives in reducing discrimination and envisioning more equitable futures.
  • Strategies for influence and support, such as fostering participation and community involvement to promote equality, justice, cultural identity, and a sense of belonging.

Language of session: English.
