These instructions apply to you if you apply to University of Helsinki in Bachelor's admissions during winter / spring 2018-2019. These instructions do NOT apply to applications for student transfers from other Finnish universities or admission via the Open University.
At the application stage, copies of original certificates are accepted as enclosures to the applications to Bachelor’s programmes (except for applications for student transfers from other Finnish universities or admission via the Open University). If you submit unofficial copies of the required enclosures with your application and you are admitted, the admission decision will be conditional.
If you are admitted, and your admission decision is conditional, you must submit officially certified copies of the certificates demonstrating your eligibility for higher education and your language proficiency upon accepting the place offered to you. If you fail to submit officially certified copies of the required documents by 12 July 2019, you will lose your place. Enclosures must arrive by the deadline of 15.00 local time in Helsinki. If you submit enclosures by post, please note that a postmark dated before the deadline is NOT sufficient. It is also possible to come and show the original documents at the Admission Services in person.
All educational documents must be either officially certified by the awarding institution, or legalised. Notarised copies are accepted only from Finnish notaries public. In addition to officially certified copies we accept educational documents submitted electronically through certain international services.
Please note that there are also country-specific document requirements in place for some degree-awarding countries. If you are admitted, educational documents from these countries must be attested or submitted in a certain way. These country-specific requirements must be followed first and foremost, before the regular requirements for attesting and submitting documents. Please note that for some countries the country-specific requirements only apply to certain educational documents, such as a transcript of records. In such cases, you can submit the other required documents as officially certified copies.
If the country where your qualification was awarded is not listed below, you must submit the required documents as officially certified copies. If your educational document is either IB, AICE or A Levels diploma, please follow the general instructions for submitting the documents.
Please note that submitting the educational documents according to the country-specific requirements may be a slow process. It is important to start the process in good time.
