Kindly note that Helsinki Summer School 2021 will not be arranged due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After your acceptance to the course you will have one week (7 days) to pay the course fee. If we do not receive your payment by the deadline, your course reservation will be cancelled. If you wish to renew your registration contact us at summerschool@helsinki.fi for further instructions.
Fees are payable through an online bank transfer or with a credit card after you have been accepted. Please make the payments for the accommodation and / or social programme only after receiving our confirmation e-mail about your reservation and payment instructions.
Payments are made through the Verifone Finland Oy, BlueCommerce website. The realiser of the payment transfer service and the provider of the payment service is Verifone Finland Oy, BlueCommerce (0943819-9) in cooperation with Finnish banks and credit institutions. Verifone Finland Oy, BlueCommerce acquires the payment transaction and delivers the payment to the University of Helsinki. From the user perspective, the service functions in the same way as traditional online payment processes. Verifone Finland Oy is a licensed payment institution.
Most HSS Social Programme events are free of charge. However, these two events have fees for all participants:
NB We only have a limited number of places available for these events. Please register to the event in your online application form. You will get a confirmation of your participation when we have processed your application.
Kindly note that the system does not update in real-time so it might be possible to select a social programme event through the online form even when the activity may already be fully-booked.
Also note that the social programme fees are non-refundable.
Unfortunately, Helsinki Summer School is not able to provide you with contacts to scholarship sources. We recommend that you contact your own university for more information on possible scholarships and/or grants.
Studio flats for one person (single occupancy only, no exceptions!) at Vuolukiventie 1, Helsinki. Bedding and towel included. Free Wi-Fi, sauna and laundry facilities. Unihome Pihlajamäki is located in the Pihlajamäki district, Northeast part of Helsinki, only a bus ride away from the City Centre.

Fairly basic and minimalistic single and twin hostel rooms available (shared bathrooms, lounges and kitchens). Located at: Linnankatu 9, Helsinki. Bedding and towel included. Free Wi-Fi, coin-operated washing machines. All floors have separate showers and washroom facilities for men and women.

Registration is always binding. The relevant fee is payable after you have been accepted to the Helsinki Summer School.
If you cancel your participation latest May 31, Helsinki Summer School will refund you the course fee minus
Please note, that if your course fee is less than the service fee and banking costs together, the course fee will not be refunded.
After May 31, nothing of the course fee will be refunded. The same policy applies if you are forced to cancel because you did not receive a visa.
The course fee cannot be transferred to the Helsinki Summer School taking place the year after.
Should a course be cancelled, Helsinki Summer School reserves the right to place the student on another course.
If you cancel your accommodation latest May 31, Helsinki Summer School will refund the accommodation fee minus
After May 31, the accommodation fee will not be refunded. The same policy applies if you are forced to cancel because you did not receive a visa.
The possible social programme fees are non refundable.
